Description
Concrete Hardener
Concrete in these environments, when not carefully designed and executed, will develop surface and deep damage over time. These damages will require costly repairs and maintenance after the facility is operational. To address this issue, Beton Plast Chemical Company has developed and introduced a Concrete Hardener. This product is applied using the dry-shake method on fresh concrete surfaces, and then spread with a power trowel to increase compressive and abrasion resistance while reducing the permeability of the concrete. This process enhances various properties of the floor concrete.
The implementation of abrasion-resistant concrete and its use for flooring in high-traffic areas and places subjected to heavy loads and stresses always presents challenges for contractors and project managers. This issue is particularly noticeable in warehouses and industrial factories where heavy traffic, such as forklifts, trucks, and trailers, is common. Regular concrete used for flooring often faces problems like high permeability, low abrasion resistance, and susceptibility to impact damage, which can lead to significant issues for employers.
The floor hardener powder is formulated from Portland cement, industrial-grade granules, and special additives, creating a smooth, polished, and durable surface. It also strengthens the bond between the concrete surface and the substrate, ensuring excellent adhesion. In addition to enhancing the strength and longevity of the concrete surface, the floor hardener powder is available in different colors, providing both technical performance and aesthetic variety. As a result, this product is widely used in flooring applications in industrial halls and factories. Additionally, floors created with this powder demonstrate excellent resistance to temperature fluctuations and freeze-thaw cycles.

How to use
To apply the dry shake hardener powder, the underlying concrete should meet the following specifications:
- Minimum concrete mix: 300 kg per cubic meter
- Minimum water-to-cement ratio: 40%
- Maximum water-to-cement ratio: 55%
- Concrete slump: 7 to 10 cm
- Maximum air content in concrete: 3%
- Minimum concrete thickness: 8 cm
- Minimum compressive strength of concrete: 30 N per mm²
Application on Fresh Concrete: First, pour the concrete according to the standards, and once it reaches initial set (when shoe prints remain on the surface without sinking), apply the dry shake powder evenly over the surface. Immediately, use a hand or power trowel to perform an initial leveling of the surface. Once the concrete reaches sufficient strength to support the weight of a person, perform the final leveling with a helicopter trowel. After the final leveling, the surface should be cured for at least 48 hours by spraying water on it.
Application on Old Concrete: For applying the dry shake powder on old concrete, first, a layer of reinforced concrete with a minimum thickness of 8 cm should be applied to the surface. Then, using the same method as for fresh concrete, apply and level the dry shake powder on the concrete surface.
