Description

Dumbbell Centerbulb Waterstop

Dumbbell Centerbulb Waterstop is designed and manufactured for use in contractile and expansion seams with high static pressures. The perforated wall waterstop in its transverse center has a hole or hole that has been extended along the waterstop and is responsible for controlling the stresses caused by contraction and expansion of the structure.

In large-scale water structures such as dams, artificial lakes, and tunnels, where high static pressures are present, these pressures can cause the waterstop to detach from the structure or tear during the concrete pouring process. For sealing joints in concrete pouring sections under high hydrostatic pressure, conventional waterstops are not sufficient, and there is a risk of them separating from the structure during the pouring operation. To address this, Dumbbell Centerbulb Waterstop has been designed and manufactured by Beton Plast Chemical Company for use in contraction and expansion joints with high static pressures.

This type of waterstop is produced with double-sided ribs, and its two edges are shaped like a circle (dumbbell) along the length of the waterstop, with the waterstop clamp attached to it. The Dumbbell Centerbulb Waterstop has a hole or cavity in its central width that extends along the length of the waterstop, and its purpose is to absorb the stresses caused by the contraction and expansion of the structure.

Applications Dumbbell Centerbulb Waterstop

  • Preventing water passage in executive and expansion seams of structures
  • Sealing of dams for concrete channels and pipes
  • Sealing artificial pools and lakes

Installation Method

To install the waterstop, first place it at the designated joint location, ensuring that half of its width is embedded in the first pour of concrete and the other half is in the second pour. When pouring the concrete, it should be done carefully and slowly to prevent the waterstop from shifting or changing its position. For the hollow waterstop, the same method applies, but the hole in the waterstop must be placed exactly at the expansion joint to ensure optimal performance. To secure the dumbbell waterstop in the structure and prevent movement, it is essential to use specialized clamps that are specifically designed for this type of waterstop.

Connecting the Two Ends of the Waterstop:

There are two methods for connecting the two ends of the waterstop at construction joints:

The first method is to use a hot air gun to heat both ends of the waterstop until they melt, then place them together. Once cooled, a seamless bond is created. The second method involves using industrial adhesives suitable for connecting soft PVC. In this method, overlap both ends of the waterstop by about 30 cm, coat the overlap with the appropriate adhesive, and then apply pressure to form a strong, gap-free connection.

Storage of Hollow Dumbbell Waterstop:

If the waterstops are stored in their original packaging and covered with a tarp to protect them from sunlight, oxygen, and ozone, the stated resistance properties will remain stable for up to 12 months, preserving their characteristics.
