Description
Emulsion primer – water base
Water based Emulsion primer – water base is a single-component product based on bitumen and special mineral powders and has good adhesion to steel, concrete, brick, asphalt and other building materials when implemented.
Protecting concrete sections in contact with soil is a crucial and unavoidable task. Soil often contains harmful chemical ions and sulfates that, if concrete surfaces are not adequately protected, can penetrate into the structure and cause damage to the concrete section. The most effective time to protect concrete from harmful chemical agents is during the early hours after placement, as the concrete is still in a plastic state and tends to lose water easily. Additionally, concrete may come into contact with water-absorbing surfaces, leading to a reduction in mixing water before it participates in the hydration process. This water loss can result in surface cracks or, in some cases, deeper cracks. These cracks are caused by shrinkage and the reduction in volume of the mix, creating pathways for harmful ions and sulfates to enter the concrete, eventually leading to corrosion of the reinforcing steel and serious structural damage over time. To address this issue and protect fresh concrete from environmental damage, as well as to reduce water loss, an emulsified primer – water-based, formulated with modified bitumen and resins – is used. Additionally, the bituminous waterproofing provides a cost-effective solution for sealing and protecting concrete surfaces.

Method of using water-based emulsion primer
To use the emulsion primer, the surface must first be thoroughly cleaned and free from any contaminants, dust, grease, and weak spots. If there is any contamination, methods such as water jetting or sandblasting should be used to clean the surface. The emulsion primer can be applied using a spray, brush, or roller. The first layer should be applied in such a way that the entire surface is covered. After about 2 to 3 hours, when the first layer still has tackiness, apply the second layer.
