Installation Method

When installing paving with the HEXA X3550 plastic stencil, one of the most important factors is ensuring the proper physical conditions for the cement mixture. The cement mixture used should have a minimum strength of 300, but for the best results, a strength of 350 is recommended.

Another important point is that the mortar or concrete used should have a slump between 4 and 6. If a higher slump concrete is used, the time required for mold removal and the work cycle will significantly increase.

Before using the molds, it is recommended to lubricate them with an appropriate oil or diesel fuel to prevent the mortar from sticking to the molds. Then, arrange the HEXA X3550 molds (according to the required number) side by side and ensure that the bottom of the molds is thoroughly saturated with clean water to prevent the concrete mixture from absorbing water into the ground before the mortar reaches its initial setting.

Fill the cells of the plastic stencil with mortar using a trowel and level the surface. If you want to use multiple colors in different cells, you can use smaller trowels for more precise application of the mortar into each cell.

After filling all the cells, gently tap the surface of the mold with your hand or the back of the trowel to compress and densify the mortar. Depending on the environmental conditions, the mortar should remain in the mold for 2 to 3 hours to achieve initial setting.

When removing the HEXA X3550 mold, make sure to lift it vertically to avoid damaging the concrete design and prevent any chipping. After mold removal, the surface should be watered for at least 3 days for proper curing.

Depending on the ambient temperature and the concrete mix, the surface can be walked on 24 to 48 hours after mold removal. After 7 days, the surface will be ready to withstand heavy loads, such as vehicles passing over it.

Once the work is completed, clean the molds with water and a brush, dry them, and store them in a suitable location for future use.
