Hexa X4040 Concrete Pavement Mold Installation Guide

For paving with plastic molds, selecting the right cement mortar and adhering to specific physical requirements is crucial. The mortar mix should have a grade of no less than 300, with 350 recommended for optimal results.

One of the key considerations is using mortar or concrete with a slump of 4 to 6. Using overly fluid concrete can increase the mold removal time and slow down the workflow.
Before starting, it’s recommended to lubricate the molds with diesel or suitable oil. Arrange the Hexa X4040 molds side by side and saturate the base of the molds with fresh water to prevent rapid absorption of water by the ground before the mortar sets.

Mortar Application Steps:

  1. Fill the cells of the mold with mortar using a trowel or spatula and smooth the surface.
  2. For different colored mortars, use smaller trowels for precise application within the cells.
  3. After filling the cells, tap the mold surface gently to compact the mortar and create a vibrated effect.

Curing and Mold Removal Timing:

  • Depending on weather conditions, allow the mortar to set for 2 to 3 hours.
  • Remove the molds vertically to avoid damaging the edges of the patterned concrete.

Post-Mold Removal Process:

  • Once the molds are removed, cure the surface by sprinkling water for at least 3 days.
  • Based on the temperature and the concrete mix, the surface can be walked on 24 to 48 hours after mold removal. After 7 days, it will be ready to withstand heavy loads, such as vehicle traffic.

Mold Maintenance:
After completing the work, wash the molds with water and a brush, dry them, and store them in a suitable location to ensure durability.
