How to use HEXARC X3550

One of the most important aspects of paving surfaces with concrete molds is ensuring the appropriate properties of the cement mortar before pouring it into the molds. The mortar should have a cement ratio of at least 300; however, for better quality, a ratio of 350 is recommended.

The mortar used to fill the molds should have a slump between 4 and 6. If the concrete’s consistency exceeds this range, the setting time and the process of removing the mold will take longer, potentially slowing down the workflow.

To prevent concrete from sticking to the molds, it is recommended to coat the inner surfaces of the molds with form-release oil, diesel, or similar materials before pouring the mortar.

Arrange the available molds side by side based on the number available. Before pouring the mortar, moisten the bottom of the molds with fresh water to prevent the molds from absorbing water from the mix and ensure better initial setting quality.

Using a trowel, pour the mortar into the mold cells and level the surface. If you intend to use different colored mortars, it is recommended to use smaller trowels for more precision and accuracy.

After filling all the cells, lightly tap the surface of the mold with the trowel or your hand to compact and settle the mortar.

Depending on the weather conditions, the mortar should remain in the mold for 2 to 3 hours to achieve its initial setting. When removing the mold, lift it vertically to avoid damaging the concrete or causing edge chipping.

Once the molds are removed, keep the paved surface moist by spraying water for at least three days to properly cure the concrete.

Depending on the ambient temperature and the concrete mix design, the surface can be walked on after 24 to 48 hours. After 7 days, it will be ready to bear heavy loads such as vehicle traffic.

Finally, clean the molds with water and a brush, dry them, and store them in an appropriate place for future use.
