Description
Microsilica Admixture
Microsilica Admixture is a practical product made by combining microsilica powder, water, and stabilizing additives in suspension form. Designed for concrete waterproofing, this product has a density about twice that of microsilica powder, offering better distribution and application in concrete compared to the powdered form. The microsilica slurry is formulated to create strong, waterproof, and impermeable concrete, while also enhancing compressive, tensile, and flexural strength.
This slurry contains approximately 45 to 60 percent silica fume, which is higher than the silica fume content found in microsilica gels. In general, when adding silica fume is necessary to improve concrete properties, this microsilica slurry is an ideal choice
Properties and Effects Microsilica Admixture
- Higher density compared to microsilica powder
- Easier integration with concrete
- Increased durability and stability of concrete under freeze-thaw cycles
- Reduces cement consumption by approximately 20%
- Lowers the water-to-cement ratio
- Enhances concrete resistance to alkalis and abrasion
- Improves pumpability of concrete and reduces wear on concrete pumping equipment
- Easier and more economical to transport and store compared to microsilica powder
- Prevents segregation and bleeding of concrete
- Increases flexural, compressive, and tensile strength of concrete
- Reduces permeability and increases concrete density
- Produces uniform, creamy concrete
- Suitable for creating aesthetically pleasing and exposed surfaces
- Allows for replacing Type 2 cement with Type 5 cement

- Ideal for concrete resistant to harmful radiation, especially in hospitals
- High-traffic surfaces, such as parking lots, exposed to abrasion
- Suitable for the construction of thin concrete sections
- Applications in concrete sections with high reinforcement density and massive concrete
- Execution of radiation-shielding, military, and special defense structures
How to Use
There are two methods for adding microsilica slurry to concrete:
- Add microsilica to all or part of the mixing water, then combine it with dry materials and mix.
- After adding all the components of the concrete mix, microsilica slurry can be added to the mixture.
Important Notes:
- For every cubic meter of concrete, mixing and blending should be done for at least 1 minute.
- Due to the high water absorption of microsilica and the need for more water, it is recommended to use a plasticizer as a complement.
- It is suggested to reduce the amount of mixing water by half the amount of microsilica slurry used.
