In traditional methods, a layer of mortar or tile adhesive would be applied to the surface, and the tiles would be placed on top. Then, they would be adjusted by tapping with a rubber hammer. Additionally, a plumb line was used to ensure the tiles were properly aligned.
These methods have drawbacks, such as wasted time and the potential for tiles to shift or slide due to the hammering. To simplify the leveling process and improve the quality of the installation, plastic pieces known as tile leveling systems have been developed and introduced. These leveling tools consist of two parts: clips and wedges, with the wedge being the male piece and the clip being the female piece. During installation, the tile leveling clip is placed between the tiles, and the wedge locks the tiles into position, ensuring precise and complete leveling without the need for hammering or a plumb line. How to Use
Tile and ceramic levelers consist of two parts: clips and wedges, and are produced in various sizes for different thicknesses. First, select the appropriate leveler based on the thickness of the tiles, ceramics, or parquet. Then, for starting the tiling process, it is recommended to begin from one corner of the area.
Using tools such as a square, ruler, tape measure, or laser measure, draw two lines at a 90-degree angle to each other in the corner of the space to design the installation of the first tile. Apply tile adhesive to the substrate. After installing all the tiles, allow the adhesive to fully cure and bond the tiles as explained earlier.
To remove the clips, simply tap the sides with the tip of your shoe or a hammer, and the clip will break from the vertical to horizontal connection point. The horizontal part of the clip will remain under the tile, while the vertical part will come out.
Note that clips are single-use, but wedges can be reused. It is recommended to apply the tile adhesive using a notched trowel. First, place and fix the tile or ceramic according to the marked lines. For subsequent tiles, position the clips as needed on each side and then install the tiles. After placing two tiles next to each other, insert the wedge into the clip gap between the two tiles and lock it in place using the special leveling pliers.
After finishing the tiling, allow the adhesive to fully cure again. Then, tap the sides to easily remove the clips, and the vertical part will detach.
